How to set up Blackboard
In the event of an H1N1 outbreak
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) encourages faculty to use Blackboard for course continuity in the event of a significant influenza outbreak. All officially scheduled courses, instructors of record, and enrolled students are automatically loaded and updated in Blackboard daily.
Through Blackboard, faculty and students may continue course communications and discussions, and students may complete course assignments and take assessments. We’ve created these short video tutorials to help you get started.
Step 1: Access Blackboard
Log in
Learn how to navigate to the Blackboard webpage, how to log into Blackboard and where to go to get help.
Make course available
Until you make your course available your students can’t access your course. Allow your students see what you put on your course website. This video shows you how
Step 2: Add Course Content
Upload a syllabus
You can post your course syllabus online so students can access it from anywhere, anytime 24/7. Watch this video to learn how to upload your syllabus
Upload a PowerPoint
You can post your course related document online for students to view whenever they need them. This video shows how to upload a PowerPoint file to your Blackboard course
Step 3: Notify students
Post announcements
You can create announcements that your students will see when they log into your course. And you can email your announcement directly to students in your class
Email students
From Blackboard you can send an email message to select students or to everyone in your course. This video will show you how
