Please note:
Participants are asked to bring copies of a drafted syllabus for one of their fall 2008 courses to the teaching and learning workshops offered on September 3 and 4. If your fall teaching schedule is not yet finalized by these dates (or if you will not be teaching in the fall), please bring copies of a syllabus for a course you have taught recently (if possible).

  • For the September 3 workshop, please bring one paper copy of a drafted syllabus.
  • For the September 4 workshops, please bring five paper copies and one electronic copy (stored on a jump drive or other portable media) of a drafted syllabus. (The same syllabus can be used in these workshops.)

Lunch discussions: “Tips for a Successful Faculty Career at OHIO”

Approx. ten tables w/5-6 participants at each, grouped by college. Each roundtable discussion will be facilitated by a senior faculty member in that college, who will be asked to begin the discussion by sharing three tips for a successful faculty career at Ohio University.

  • One discussion table will be designated for faculty new to Ohio University who are coming in at mid-career/senior levels.

This workshop will provide you with hands-on assistance and advice in developing/fine-tuning the syllabus for a course you will be teaching in fall 2008, including learning outcomes for the course. The workshop will include small-group discussions, with each group facilitated by a senior colleague at the university.

Please plan to bring 5 copies of a drafted course syllabus.

Using Blackboard to Make Course Materials Accessible and Support Student Learning; Overview of Academic Technology Resources at OHIO

Workshop offered by the Center for Academic Technologies.

Please plan to bring a jump drive or other portable media containing an electonic copy of a drafted course syllabus.

Southeastern Ohio Field Trip

Field trip leaders:

This bus tour is intended to help new faculty learn about the history of Southeastern Ohio and its physical and cultural landscapes.
