Blackboard Support

The following operating systems and browsers are fully tested and supported by Blackboard:

Windows 2000 running Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 1.0.x
Windows XP running Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 1.0.x
Macintosh OS 10.3 running Internet Explorer 5.2 or Safari 1.2

Other combinations of operating systems and browsers may be compatible with Blackboard 6.3. However, they have not been fully tested so you may experience problems.

Shockwave, Flash & Authorware

Macromedia Shockwave, Flash, and Authorware Players are the Web standard for entertaining, engaging, rich-media playback. Macromedia Web Players display content such as interactive multimedia product demos and training, e-merchandising applications, and rich-media multiuser games.

Microsoft Office Converters & Viewers

With the help of converters and viewers from Office Online, you can share your Microsoft Office files with people who have different versions of Office programs, or even with people who don't have Office installed.

Converters allow you to open files created by people using different versions of your Office programs.
Viewers provide a means for people who don't have Office programs to see your work. You can provide them with the appropriate viewer along with your Office files.

Java is also required for some Blackboard Features.

A Compatible browser has been tested with key areas of Blackboard, but may not work with all features. A Not Certified browser has not been tested with Blackboard. We do not recommend using this browser.

Important Browser Notes: The Visual Text Box Editor* is only available on Windows computers running Internet Explorer.* The Safari browser for Macintosh does not fully support the Live Connect technology used by some features in Blackboard. Safari users may experience problems with the Equation Editor, Collaboration Sessions, and SCORM Content. Firefox users taking timed tests in Blackboard must enable the "Change Status Bar Text" feature to view the Test Timer.
