Blackboard FAQ

Q. What should I do if I can't log in to Blackboard?

There are several reasons for failure to login to Blackboard, each requiring a different response:

  1. You have no classes currently active in Blackboard. This might be
    • because your instructor doesn't use Blackboard for this course. If you are a student in a class, please contact your instructor.
    • because your instructor has not yet created the course in Blackboard. If you are teaching a class, please visit the self-service page here.
    • because that course's roster has not been loaded into Blackboard yet. Classes aren't loaded into the system until after 10 days prior to the beginning of the quarter. New classes aren't loaded into the system until the following day.
    • because you have added the course so recently that you are not yet in Blackboard's roster. New students aren't included in Blackboard's roster until the second day after adding.
  2. You may have a problem with your Oak ID and/or password. Visit "Having trouble accessing services?" at the Information Technology web page, and follow the steps listed there.
  3. Your browser may not be configured properly. Use the online browser-check. This will test your operating system and browser for compatibility with Blackboard and will confirm that cookies are properly enabled on your browser.
  4. More extensive discussions are provided in the "Faculty How To" and the "Student How To" under their respective links, "Troubleshoot login problems."
  5. If the above methods do not resolve your problem, please contact the Service Desk at (740) 593-1222.
